################# Stratigraphic database ################# Contains ICS Stratigraphic Table as of 2004. Addition of local units, as well as biozones, is in progress. CopyLeft (2005) Peter A. Cejchan, Directories and files: data/ # includes data tables, both source, and generated (*.g) bnd table of stratigraphic boundaries cntry ISO-3166 country codes unt table of stratigraphic units ref table of references proto/ # includes table prototypes, i.e., description of fields scripts/ guide file with useful unnamed scripts and tricks other files see +INDEX there You will need Plan9, or at least some kind of Unix, plus some knowledge of 'join', 'sort', and 'awk' commands to get full power of the database. DOS/Windows/Mac users can fiddle with source and generated tables, e.g., in Access. No support of SQL is intentional: learn 'awk' instead - you'll get the power of 'regular expressions', plus a full-blown programming language. This database is aimed at the users that intend to use it together with their own tables locally. If you are willing to melt your left mouse button in a web based application, this database is probably not for you: use, e.g., www.stratigraphy.org instead.
