.TL Fstopgm User Manual .SH 1 fstopgm .LP Updated: 06 April 89 .br Table Of Contents .SH 2 NAME .LP fstopgm - convert a Usenix FaceSaver(tm) file into a PGM image .SH 2 SYNOPSIS .LP \fBfstopgm\fR [\fIfsfile\fR] .SH 2 DESCRIPTION .LP .LP This program is part of Netpbm. .LP \fBfstopgm\fR reads a Usenix FaceSaver(tm) file as input and produces a PGM image as output. .LP FaceSaver(tm) files sometimes have rectangular pixels. While \fBfstopgm\fR won't re-scale them into square pixels for you, it will give you the precise \fBpamscale\fR command that will do the job. Because of this, reading a FaceSaver(tm) image is a two-step process. First you do: .DS L fstopgm > /dev/null .DE This will tell you whether you need to use \fBpamscale.\fR Then use one of the following pipelines: .DS L fstopgm | pgmnorm fstopgm | pamscale -whatever | pgmnorm .DE To go to PBM, you want something more like one of these: .DS L fstopgm | pamenlarge 3 | pgmnorm | pamditherbw fstopgm | pamenlarge 3 | pamscale | pgmnorm | pamditherbw .DE You want to enlarge when going to a bitmap because otherwise you lose information; but enlarging by more than 3 does not look good. .LP FaceSaver is a registered trademark of Metron Computerware Ltd. of Oakland, CA. .SH 2 SEE ALSO .LP pgmtofs, pgm, pgmnorm, pamenlarge, pamscale, pamditherbw .SH 2 AUTHOR .LP Copyright (C) 1989 by Jef Poskanzer. .br \l'5i' .SH 2 Table Of Contents .LP .IP \(bu NAME .IP \(bu SYNOPSIS .IP \(bu DESCRIPTION .IP \(bu SEE ALSO .IP \(bu AUTHOR .LP
