    I put most of the changes in but there
    is no way I am going to make uname
    claim to be a Linux system.
    
    As a compromise, I changed it to check $osname
    and use that if it's set.
    
    You do know that you can run
    
    	./configure --host-i386-pc-linux
    
    or such, right?
